What do you think: Public or Private Health Care and Why?

Why do you think about private citizens who are now speaking out in favor of Health Care Reform?

  • I watched a small clip just a while ago in which a woman was giving her testimony about the expenses she incurred when she was diagnosed with uterine cancer several years ago. Nancy Pelosi and some other rep. from this administration made some opening remarks, and then this woman gave her story. Do you think her story as well as the others who were to speak about their catastrophic illnesses and the costs incurred will be able to sway public opinion in favor of Pres. Obama's Health Care Reform? Thank you

  • Answer:

I have heard similar stories about the insured. Obama himself talks about what his mother went through because the insurance did not want to pay for her treatment. They need to pass legislation about insurance companies paying for catastrophic illnesses and insuring those with pre existing conditions. All that has nothing to do with nationalizing the health care industry. You can see many stories in countries with national health care who are unable to recieve the treatment they need in time to save their lives. I doubt he will sway public opinion with that line of BS. Why dont they just once try telling the truth instead of trying to sell the voters a bill of goods. He has become a real snake oil salesman. None of them have even read the bill they are trying to get us to buy into. He is conning the voters and should be ashamed of himself.

I think its unfrotunate, but not worth a trillion dollars in taxpayer money!

The democrats are only using stories that will support their push to get this government health care bill passed. I have posted a link to an article about socialized medicine. Euthanasia will be many people's only treatment option if the government gets control.

That may be sad story but EVEN his own party knows his plan is wrong. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090722/ap_on_go_pr_wh/us_health_care_overhaul So I guess this story is a sad one also.Abortion isn't a medical necessity! http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090722/ap_on_go_co/us_health_care_overhaul_abortion;_ylt=Al_2XDa6cLSK79xwV2NoOsCCfNdF I'm one of the uninsured I don't expect you to pay for me.I also don't think I need to pay for a abortion(s). I hope his plan fails.

That they are a vanishing segment of the population per the polls. If they did something ONLY about preexisting conditions and catestrophic illness, that would be a very different bill than they are shoving now.

I certainly hope statements like this do not sway public opinion in favor of Obumm's Health Care Reform. If passed, this would be very catastrophic to our nation's health and strength.

The Democrates will choose who they want to speak out. They don't look at both sides. Fox news went over to the UK and talked to people who already have Universal Health care and if this woman with uterine cancer were in the UK she might have not even received the care she needed. Since it is government health care they get to choose who lives and who dies. example: My mother was on dialysis and had Medicare. Her case worker told her that they will not be putting her on a donor list. My mother survived 5 years on dialysis before she died. She may have lived longer if she had a transplant, we will never know. That is going to be the kind of decision making that goes on in government run health care. In my opinion, with Universal Health care if you have a complicated illness you might as well go ahead and die.

I don't think they are looking at the whole picture. I live on a fixed income with no medical insurance and have had Type 1 Diabetes for 45 years. Since 2004 I've had to have laser eye surgery due to diabetic retinopathy and last year I had to have vitrectomy (to repair a whole in my retina). In 2008 I spent more on medical bills than I made but the hospital and my doctors were absolutely fantastic in waving large portions of my bills. I have a horrible feeling that the President's Health Care Reform will solve a relatively small problem by creating an incurable financial catastrophe. Edit: In case you're wondering how I could pay more in medical expenses than I had in income, it was because I had savings from the sale of my home in 2003. If I hadn't had that money the hospital would have paid a larger potion of my bill thanks to the generous donations of some very wonderful Americans!!! The same with my doctors. I had put off the vitrectomy because I couldn't afford it but by opthamologist and my retina doctors both assured me the money would be found. It is my gut feeling that donations to charitable organizations are going to dry up leading to a much bigger problem than anybody can even imagine.

Some people will not be swayed. Personally, I have seen the same situation in my life with my brother in law who had cancer. Then he lost his job and health insurance. With all the bills - my sister ignored her chest pain as they had no insurance and were already $80,000.00 in debt due to his cancer treatments. She died because she ignored the chest pains. My ex cannot get coverage because he has RA. We stayed married for 3 extra years so he could stay on my work coverage. We do need health insurance reform.
