How to get government grants?

I'm looking for more information on how to apply and how to get goverment grants. As well as what types of grants are available to me. Where do I go to look to get info and apply for them without paying a large amount of money without giving me any actual helpful information. Thanks.

Your local community college and your local adult education center will periodically offer classes in grant writing. Take one of those classes first. Your instructor will also be able to suggest what agencies are appropriate for your needs. Oh - and you should not have to pay a penny to those agencies to which you apply for those grants. You will have to pay for the grant writing class, though...
