Why did Wheres My Refund change?

Why did wheres my refund change from an exact date to?

  • Your tax return has been received and is being processed. If you file a complete and accurate tax return, your refund will be issued: within six weeks of the received date. other people i know have an exact deposit date... i did have one for feb 28th but now it tells me within six weeks...why would it do that

  • Answer:

If you don't have direct deposit it takes six weeks. There may have been something in your return which kicked it out of automatic processing and requires that it be processed manually. Or the volume of returns has increased considerably causing the system to slow down.

Same thing happened to me I had a direct deposit date of 2/21/2012 now it just says Your tax return has been received and is being processed.???? I don't get it...it doesn't even say the 6 weeks thing??? I efiled on 2/2/2012

Godspeed

Because the IRS has too few people to process too many returns (as usual).
