What is the entire process of getting a Driver's License in California?

How long is the process of getting your permit/license in the state of California? (Read short description)?

  • I'm a junior in high school, and 16 years old. I haven't started anything for driving yet and was wondering how long the process is. What exactly is the process of getting your license and how long will it take me if I start next month?

  • Answer:

Ok here is a list of what you need to do First you need to complete online drivers Ed which may take you anywhere from 4 days to 2 weeks Second you will receive a certificate saying that you finished drivers Ed and then you need to sign up for drivers training and get a certificate saying you are enrolled in that Then you need to take your 2 certificates, birth certificate, and social security number to the DMV and take your liscence test ( try and make an appointment if u can it makes it a whole lot faster) Once you pass your permit test you have to take a total of 6 hours of drivers training and once you complete it you will get a certificate saying you completed drivers training Now that you have your permit you need to wait 6 months until you can take your liscence test, once it's been 6 months you needto make an appointment for the drivers test and you need to bring a car, the insurance and registration for the car, a liscenced adult, all 3 of your certificates, your permit, your birth certificate and your social security number Then hopefully you pass your drivers test on the first try good luckkkkkk
