DV Lottery 2012 ... Results on May 1st?

• What I mean is ... Is the result that you get o May1st going to be any different from the results you may get next year on June 30??? ... I see that this year's green card lottery results will only be online (there will be no mail). But they say on the website that you can check your status from May1st 2011 to June 30 2012. ... Now does that mean you can check on May 1st and know directly if you've been selected or not, or can the results change on, say, 2012???

  Participating is not enough, you have got to know the rules too. Actually the D.V is more complicated than you think. May 1st all results should be out and available. First, as soon as the results are out, you have to hurry and know your results, then if by chance (Which is very low actually) you turn out to be one of the winners, take notice of your case number and get to the visa bulletin of October (Interviews start on October) concerning D.V lottery http://travel.state.gov/visa/bulletin/bulletin_1360.html . the C.N will let you have an idea of your date of interview. Current case numbers on October would no longer be current on January for example, or all visas allocated to your country are distributed already and you are left out. So on May 1st go to check your status and start processing right away if you win since it will turn into a deadly race... People from Europse and Africa have more chance to get the interview than people from other areas. If you win get your police certificates ready two month before interview (Its most of the time the hardest part since from many contries it takes long time to get).
