What is the role of dept of agriculture?

Why not make the Dept of Interior an agency under the Dept of Agriculture?

  • The Dept of Agriculture is huge, and already handles most government land, so what''s the point in even having a whole Dept of Interior, it's small and doesn't do a whole lot except run and watch over national parks. Why not merge it with the Dept of Agriculture?

  • Answer:

I thought that the Bureau of Land Management was in the Department of the Interior. They handle most of the land, not the Department of Agriculture.

Interior has several non-land agencies, such as Bureau of Indian Affairs and Office of Insular Affairs. USDA doesn't actually manage a lot of land. They are more of a regulatory agency that sets the rules for farming.

I think that Interior and Agriculture should merge into one. There is really no reason for them to be apart.
