How do i advertise to people in another state?

Do you feel the state of a government represents its people?

  • I've been thinking about the US specifically. Do you feel the state of the government, or a government in general, reflects the will of the people and truly represents them? I've seen many people say that people need to take responsibility instead of blaming politicians in light of decisions made that are often complained about. Obviously people will have differences of opinion on subjects but there are many that stand out to me which lead me to believe personally that it does not and the people are not directly responsible. "A government is a body of people, usually notably ungoverned." The government is composed of people, obviously. The question is if these people represent the interests of the general populous or are part of a governing system that is perpetuated by rules of its own. In the case of the US we have largely two political parties composed of people with two political standpoints. Any blame I would assign to the general populous itself would be that they are apathetic. So long as their lives are not unduly impacted, they do not either vote, or vote on the premise of continued represented perceived best interests. In this case one can argue guilt by proxy. The question becomes does the politician and ultimately the government represent the perceived best interests of the people, however apathetic? Knowing that the vote occurs with this idea in mind, in my opinion the politician is constituently obligated to act with that idea in mind. As such the politician is at guilt for wrongly representing those best interests. For example, I tend to assume people don't like the monetary gain aspect of politics. In other words, pensions and pay raises voted in by those who actually get the pay raise. Also, globally or nationally signed documents that change our future and are enacted without our knowledge of it. Often these can be rarely publicized even after being signed. It can be hard to vote correctly with your best interests in mind, even when you are politically active, if you don't have all the facts. Obviously it isn't the full responsibility of the government to coddle you through every piece of information. Being the ones actually involved in these dealings and supposedly representing the general populous they are not completely unaccountable for this either. Often the government will represent its own interests and continued fruition over the peoples. One does not see a government willingly downsize of its own accord, this is why there are checks and balances. It would be like asking it to cut off its own foot. Regardless I think my best argument against the state of a government being solely the fault of the people is to view a government that oppresses or even kills its own people. It can be said that the people of a country are those who make up their government. But surely they must be viewed as two separate entities if one is oppressing or killing the other. No people in the world would ask for this or as I sometimes hear it, "you get the government you deserve." Voting in my mind does not fully incorporate how a government behaves. The people that make up the government are just as responsible to shape and form it as those who vote to put them into that position; more so I feel. What do you think? Are you more on the government's side, the people's side, or do you feel something else entirely? If you can please answer with more than a single sentence. It is difficult to convey meaning and understanding without descriptive detail and reason. I will leave the best answer open to voting when the question ends in true democratic form, for whatever it's worth.

I don't think it is the state of government but I do feel that the Congress and the current president do not represent the Constitution of the United States nor the people the Constitution was written to serve. Much of the populace has been blinded by the biased press and direction rate call for "hope and change". It's time the citizens wake up and smell the poop. There is no roses left to smell.

The government represents the liberals at this point. So the question should be: "Are liberals the majority now?" If a conservative doesn't like guns, he doesn't buy one. If a liberal doesn't like guns, he wants all guns outlawed. If a conservative is a vegetarian, he doesn't eat meat. If a liberal is a vegetarian, he wants all meat products banned for everyone. If a conservative is homosexual, he quietly leads his life. If a liberal is homosexual, he demands legislated respect. If a conservative is down-and-out, he thinks about how to better his situation. A liberal wonders who is going to take care of him. If a conservative doesn't like a talk show host, he switches channels. Liberals demand that those they don't like be shut down. If a conservative is a non-believer, he doesn't go to church. A liberal non-believer wants any mention of God and religion silenced. If a conservative decides he needs health care, he goes about shopping for it, or may choose a job that provides it. A liberal demands that the rest of us pay for his.
