Why did Americans send more money to help Tsunami victims than the recent victims of the earthquake in China?

i hope so china's a rich country they can take care of their own

the question is how my time is as China come to our aid for its quakes tornadoes hurricanes ???

If you are really asking why Americans sent more money to the Tsunami victims than the earthquake victims, I believe it's because so many of us are struggling to surivive here. We're losing our jobs and our homes and can't pay our utility bills. Having said that, of course I believe we should send whatever help we can. And as far as your comment about adopting goes; are you aware that you are not allowed to adopt a child from China if you are on antidepressants or if you are overweight? I don't really understand that. Why wouldn't someone who is responsibly treating the ILLNESS of depression, or someone who struggles with their weight not be a great and loving parent? Maybe they are only looking for the Angelina Jolie/Brad Pitt combo. Rich, thin, and glamourous to help the poor orphans. Americans have some of the biggest, most generous hearts in the world, so don't assume that we are oblivious or uncaring when we can't fix every single thing that is wrong with the world today.

It think it absolutely has to do with the lack of images coming back that show white people being affected by the disaster. Whether or not people want to believe it, racism is still a part of America, because the media easily dismisses strife that occurs to non-white people while it makes rally cries for support if a white person stubs a toe. I'm a white American, and I don't know how this happens. Is it that the media is allowing this problem to continue by pandering to their audience, or is it that the media creates the problem?

Possibly because we can't be the caretakers of everyone.

Why don't you get off your computer and volunteer to help the cause? Here are even better questions: Why does everyone expect help from America when they are in crisis? Why is it when disaster strikes, it's up to America (especially the US) to save the day? I think people in other countries need to realize that the US also has limited resources and is not capable of helping literally everyone in the world, even if the people here want to.

Seeing as the economy of America has been spinning out of control, its become more difficult to help third world nations, when our own system is having its own drastic problems.

because more was needed, i don't know if you know this but America is nearly 10 trillion dollars in debt, mostly to China, how much did they send to the victims of Katrina? money wise the Chinese are fine,they don't need our cash, in fact they have tons of it they can burn on weekends if they wanted too.

It's a crazy world, and don't expect it to ever make any sense, lol. Why are there still people starving and homeless IN the U.S. and we're sending money elsewhere? Who knows!
