Would foster care be an option?

Leaving foster care for independant living at 16?

  • I'm 16 years old, and have not lived in foster care for that long, I'd say about 8 weeks. It's not that I don't like it, but considering what I've experienced in life, I've had to grow up pretty fast. I feel that moving back in with my parents isn't an option as I feel I've already flown the nest: my bedrooms empty, I don't have my key anymore, I just feel like I've shut the door on it. But now I don't feel unsatisfied with foster care, but I feel like a child still. I know Im 16, im basically still a child, but the option of independant living is available to me, and I feel like I could be making the right decision. My rent will be paid by the council, I'll recieve a living allowance and my school bursary for care leavers is £100 PCM, so it doesn't sound too bad, as I'm not looking to own a TV, or any unessary luxuries which will just add to finance. I feel ready to move out on my own as I've always liked my solitude. I guess I'm just looking for a simple opinion or first hand guidance from someone who's in the same boat as me, or is a care leaver, in care, or living independantly.
