What's hiring process at Target like?

What is Indiana's Department of Child Services hiring process like?

  • I just received an email asking for a phone interview ( sweet) and I would like to know what to expect during the hiring process. I'm applying for the family case manager position and hoping to get the job lined up before I graduate in May. Also for all you DCS workers, how competitive are these entry positions. I understand they have a high turn over rate, and often most states find it hard to get people interested, whats your take? thanks!!!

  • Answer:

you'll have to pass an extensive back ground check, of course. you will have to interview in person. they are competitive because they pay well....for a good reason, though. initially most people think they can deal with whatever for the good pay, but that's just not how it turns out. as for the turn over rate, it's because of how stressful the job is. it's likely that you'll have to cover a large area, travel, have a large case load; you'll have to go into homes (in which some conditions are going to be extremely unpleasant....people don't want you there and then there are the hygiene and safety issues that you will encounter). that doesn't even take into consideration departmental demands that have to be met...and if you can't meet the demands, don't expect to be coddled...it's a tough field to go into, but if you have the heart for it it can be a good thing.
