How would you compare Canada to the US?

Americans bash Canada's health care saying it does not compare to US?

  • Why do Canadians live 2-3 years more on average and infant mortality rate is lower in Canada. I do not mind paying taxes knowing my neighbour will get the care he needs, its unfortunate the greedy like to make other systems look horrible. http://www.nationmaster.com/graph/hea_lif_exp_at_bir_tot_pop-life-expectancy-birth-total-population US are rank 44 for lifespan in the world.

  • Answer:

Because we have a bunch of selfish, self-centered & egotistical greedy people that don't want to share. They think of no one other than themselves & their pocketbook. Luckily they are in the minority. Unfortunately, they have apparently managed to brainwash the less intelligent of the population, so who knows what will happen?

I agree with you, I'm European and I'm really scared by the way health care works in the US, I prefer paying higher taxes and knowing I'll be insured for life even if I happen to lose my job or anything.

Canada's system works....................US is afraid they can't do it.........like most things our government does it will get bungled up.................Insurance companies give tons of money to campaigns.....................

It is funny... the problem I think we have in America is that many of us feel that our Health Care system is the best in the world and we don't have to change anything. Everyone else... the Europeans and the Canadians are nothing but commie pinkos with their socialized medicine. I just wonder WHY we can't even entertain the idea that there is a better way? Why can't we have everyone covered here AND not have to wait horrendous wait times to get a simple tooth pulled? Even though socialized medicine is not perfect, (far from it) neither is our system. Remember the woman with a perforated intestine that was writhing in pain in an LA hospital for 45 minutes and then DIED on the emergency room floor? In the most powerful country in the world? Are you kidding me? We need to have our system fixed where everyone is covered. I believe we can do so and not have to sacrifice service or quality of care. We can fund tropical rainforests in Iowa. We certainly can certainly find a way to cover everyone.

stereotypical conservative response is to attack you and say no no thats wrong we're actually 42nd if we count the whatevers the right way they won't actually address the actual substance of your question my deal is im not for socialized medicine but for lowering the cost of medical coverage by switching to e-records and reducing the paperwork the companies need to be looked at who offer private insurance cause i think theres some serious corruption going on and wether the us is 44 or 42, health care costs too much period republican or democrat it costs too much

What a terrible way to live, not knowing if you should go to a doctor when you are in pain. I'm sure in the socialized countries the worst get to be seen first, just as here. We have no compassion for those less fortunate. Greed and politics control our country!

OUR GOVERNMENT DOES NOT WANT US TO HAVE GOOD HEALTH CARE, ITS BY DESIGHN, THINGS ARE ABOUT TO GET WAY WORSE

I'm quite sure Canada has good health care for Canadians and I'm happy that you don't mind paying higher taxes. I however live in the United States and I like the idea that I can chose which doctor I want to see, and I don't like the idea of socialized medicine, don't want my taxes to get any higher. Finally you mention greed, It's hard to feel sorry for someone that doesn't have health insurance, when they have a 50" color TV and a new car.

Canadians living longer and infant mortality, on average, has nothing to do with their health care system. It more has to do with Immigration and how immigrants take care of themselves. 10% of the US population are illegals and most of them are for latin america. If you were to " weighted average" out the the Mexican, Colomibian, etc. average age and infant mortality I can guarantee it would be higher than Canada.

But... Canadians come across the border when they'd rather not wait several months for an important procedure. Healthcare in Europe and Canada is rationed and paid for by an overtaxed population. In fact, the reason, and ONLY reason the U.S. is the most economically powerful nation in the world is because Europe hamstrings itself with socialist programs and a heavy tax burden upon its people.
