What is the Schengen Area?

Does Denmark belong to the Schengen area totally?

  • I have read an article today that Denmark doesn't acced totally to Schengen agreements, although you can read anywhere else it does. I'm confused now. I bought aiplane tickets and booked a hotel in London and lost all the money because i didn't know that i need visa for uk (i have residence permit for Italy) Now i need to go to Denmark, and i'm afraid because i have burned myself once. So i want to totally assure myself that they will not stop me at the airport again because i don't have a visa for denmark and i lost all the money because i didn't know it :-) So please assure me that if i have residence permit for Italy (and my passport of course) which belongs to schengen area, they will not stop me at the airport again because Denmark belongs as well to schengen area, totally.... Thank you so much :-) P.S. one more little question.... is my english understandable? Do i have toomany mistakes?

  • Answer:

According to the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs: "Residence permits issued by a Schengen country which are valid for entry into other Schengen countries are not valid for entry into the Faroe Islands and Greenland." So, so long as you're not going to those parts of Denmark, you should be fine without a visa.
