L1 visa got approved in the US but the embassy wanted more information?
-
Hi I am under an L2 visa and go to college. We had to go to the american embassy in turkey for renewing our visa. Our Visa got approved in the US and we have our petition. The guy we had at the desk asking questions was apparently an *** with us and took our passport and all our documents petitions and stuff for analyzing. Now what i don t understand is that our visa got approved in the US? Why is the embassy asking for further informations? and can the embassy still refused our visa even if it is approved? I was suppose to go back to Florida a week ago now it has been two weeks that i m waiting and i have to go back to college next week.

Answer:
we have no way to know why your application wasn't approved at the interview beyond what you've told us here. however, while your father's petition may have been approved in the US, and you may have changed status in the US through USCIS, that doesn't automatically mean that your visa application will be approved, as you've found out. If it did, you wouldn't have needed to be interviewed. Obviously, he thought something was wrong, for some reason. He may be right or wrong. No way for us to know. If in fact the embassy decided not to approve your father's application, then they would have to send a report to USCIS stating why he wasn't qualified or was otherwise ineligible for the visa. That would have to be sent to the employer to give them the opportunity to refute the embassy finding. It wouldn't be the same process if you alone were refused for some reason. however, they would at least be required to tell you why your visa wasn't being issued. most of the time though, these things are approved.

you visa never got approved in the US ... you status was changed there .... Only the State dept at consulates outside of the US can issue visas yes they can and do refuse to issue visas If the L-1 is still in the US tell them to get an AILA lawyer advice and if the l-1 got permission via the USCIS... he still does not havea visa ... if they leaves the US he wont get back in until he gets one
