You receive a package in the mail to the address you listed on your application on http://www.dvlottery.state.gov/ This scam is so common the US Embassy has issued a fraud warning about it http://london.usembassy.gov/visanews007.html "Successful DV applicants are notified by the Department of State, Kentucky Consular Center (KCC) by letter, NOT email and are provided instructions on how to proceed to the next step in the process. The KCC will not ask you to send money to them or to this Embassy or any other U.S. Embassy by mail or by services such as Western Union. Remember, successful DV applicants are notified by the Department of State, Kentucky Consular Center (KCC). No other organization or private company is authorized by the Department of State to notify DV applicants of their winning entry, or the next steps in the processing of applying for their visa. " Report the email you got to the FBIs IC3 division for investigation http://www.ic3.gov/default.aspx and DO NOT respond to that original email for any reason. You probably signed up for one of the thousands of fake dv lottery sites or responded to a fake job offer and now the scammers are trying to get you to send money

it means they're trying to take your money. did you actually register for the diversity visa lottery in October/November? they don't pick winners at random from the web. in any case, no winners have officially even been selected yet. that won't happen until May. this is a scam.
