Is a job interview in an embassy different?

Do I need to renew my police certificates before my interview at the US Embassy in Bangkok?

  • I am a Filipino citizen but currently working in Thailand. Before my fiance filed a petition for me, I went to the Philippines in April 2008 and got my police certificates to all the places where I stayed with in 6 months. It has already a red ribbon from the DFA. My certificates will be expired this coming September.Fortunately, my fiance's petition for me was just approved on the 8th of August but I'm not sure when I can have my interview at the U.S embassy.I want to be sure that all my documents will all be valid during my interview to avoid hassles. I also need your suggestions about resigning from my job before my interview at the US embassy (if ever I get the visa).I am the academic leader in our school and I am worried that they won't let me to resign from my job.In fact, I just renewed my visa for my third year contract. My fiance has been waiting for me for 8 years now so, I want to get married with him.In advance, thanks for your advice.

  • Answer:

I would renew them in case they expire before your interview. If not, it will cause even more delay. How can they stop you from resigning? When your visa gets approved, buy your airline ticket and just quit your job. Perhaps you should call in sick the day of your interview in case you don't get the visa and want to keep the job.
