I have Zimbabwean passport with Right of Abode for UK. What countries can I travel to on this with no visa?
-
I am wanting to travel around Europe and know that on a Zimbabwean passport this may pose some problems. I am struggling to find information on what access to other countries the Right of Abode covers, if any. Please let me know if you have any ideas of which countries I can go to, or where I could find out this information. Thank-you.

Answer:
Your Right of Abode for the United Kingdom does not count at all for visa requirements in continental Europe. The 25 countries who have formed a border-less travel zone on the continent (Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, and Switzerland) allow their permanent residents to travel to other member countries for a total of 90 days for tourist purposes without a visa. The United Kingdom and Ireland have not joined this agreement and therefore permanent residents of those countries may not travel to other countries unless they are on the list of visa waived countries to the Schengen zone. Visa waived countries to the Schengen zone are Andorra, Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Brunei, Canada, Chile, Costa Rica, Croatia, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Hong Kong (SAR), Israel, Japan, Liechtenstein, Macao (SAR), Malaysia, Mexico, Monaco, New Zealand, Nicaragua, Norway, Panama, Paraguay, San Marino, Singapore, South Korea, USA, Uruguay, Vatican City, and Venezuela. Unfortunately Zimbabwe is not listed as being visa exempted. You will have to apply for a visa to visit other European countries. Right of Abode covers you to live & work in the UK, it does not allow you to travel through Europe as if you were a UK citizen. If you require a visa to visit other European countries then you need to apply for them, look into the Schengen Visa, it allows the holder to travel through several European countries at the same time but the Republic of Ireland & the UK are not members of the Schegen treaty. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Schengen_Agreement

Visa free travels depends MOSTLY on your Citizenship. I would advise you to check with the various embassies of countries you wish to travel to and see what their requirements are. If you have a Green card in USA you can travel to Canada, Mexico and some Caribbean countries without a visa even if your citizenship mandates a visa so I advise you to check with the respective countries you wish to travel to see what the requirements are.
