How long does it take to replace a lost Syrian passport?

• my grandma is 65 y.o and had her INDIAN passport, green card, SS card, and State ID accidentally thrown out in the trash. i am really lost as to what i need to do to get these things replaced. the main thing is the Indian passport, could anyone tell me the steps i need to take to replace the passport? do i need to go to NY personal ( not a problem) or mail in the apps? i would call the embassy but they are mind bogglingly inefficient. any information would be nice at this point.

  The loss must be reported to the next police station to obtain FIR. Your grandma needs to apply in person at the Embassy/Consulate which covers your place of residence. The New York Consulate covers Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Puerto Rico, Rhode Island, Vermont, Virgin Islands. http://www.indianembassy.org/consulate-in-us.php .. In order to obtain a duplicate passport, the following documents are needed: Online registered application form; Completed Nationality Status Verification Form http://indiacgny.org/appl_forms/Form12.pdf .. Prescribed fee of US $125. The fee has to be paid in cash (only at the counter), certified checks or money orders payable to the Consulate General of India, New York. Please note that personal checks will not be accepted. Cash, when applying by mail, is also not acceptable. Applicants may include $20 for Express Mail or $10 Priority mail (No Tracking No.) if delivery of documents is requested by mail. Kindly note that money once paid, is not refunded on refusal of service or delay in service. Currency notes of denomination higher than $50.00 will not be accepted.
