A small question about Schengen visa to Portugal?

Applying for a schengen visa through Portugal embassy in London?

• Hi, I will be travelling to Portugal in 2 1/2 weeks time from now from London. All my tickets are booked, however I am not getting any visa appointment dates for a month. Please could someone help to clarify the following questions: 1. How much time will the Portugal embassy take to process the visa, once I get the appointment date. 2. How to book for an appointment ? The Portugal embassy gives this premium number 09065540789 where one can call to book an appointment. But this number charges over £1 per minute and for the first 10 minutes these people are narating a voice-recorded story on the phone. So basically every time I call to check for an appointment date, I have to pay around 10 quids. 3. Since I am not getting any appointments for the next one month, is there any other way to apply for the visa to Portugal ??? Applying through any other embassy will not be feasible because if I dont travel to that country they will not issue me a visa the next time and also, I will not have the paperwork ready in this short time. Please help....
