Help in getting a visa from Africa for travel to the US?
-
I have a friend who lives in Kenya, Africa. I have been speaking to her through e-mail and almost everyday on the phone. She calls me sometimes and sometimes I call her. I would like her to travel to the US and stay at my home. She has indicated that it is very difficult for someone to get a visa to travel from Kenya to the US. She is a part time college student now and also sings and dances in churches to obtain her living expenses. She said something about getting a church close to where I live to invite her to perform would make things easier to get a visa. I am not sure if any churches in my city would invite someone from Africa and pay for their travel. If I were to get a church to invite her to perform for free and not pay her travel, I could handle that. I would pay for her airfare by directly paying it to the airline for a non-refundable ticket. I need advise on the best way to get her a visa. What type of visa could she obtain the easiest?

Answer:
It sounds like this is on the up and up. The difficulty she has with a visa is that with no real job or income they will presume she is likely to violate her visa and stay in the US. Your idea to get an invitation letter from the local church for her to perform might work, it would work better if there was a group of performers or a group of performances involved. There is a class of visa for performers, and there is less presemption that she would stay in that class. There is also a class of visa for religious volunteer, but I assume your church would have to be willing to sponsor her for that. But at the embassy interview they will go into depth about her performance credentials and the performance "tour" planned, and the likelihood that this is a real performance. So I would not be surprised if this fails. Good Luck.

an invitation from a church is not going to guarantee her return to her country, nor get her a visa. so? the only way is for her to apply at the embassy in Nairobi Kenya, hold on with the fare fees. no visa are easy to receive. http://nairobi.usembassy.gov/non-immigrant_visas.html ps: believe readers you are more than likely getting rip off. sorry to say that to you, but you are not the only one. http://www.hobotraveler.com/da_sc_1indexscams.php http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20070509082930AAiXZdD http://www.hobotraveler.com/da_sc_1indexscams.php need more proof?..

The chances are fairly high that you're being setup for a scam. A B-2 Tourist Visa has an application fee of $131. There are no other fees attached, no police clearance needed, no physical exam, no "show money" requirement, etc... Your friend will have to qualify on her own merit. You cannot "sponsor" her visit and neither can a local church. Here's what you should do. Go to http://www.pointofmail.com/ and sign-up for a free trial account. Using this service you can track your email and see EXACTLY what city and country it's opened in. The receipt you get for your mail will look like this........ Recipient Tracking Information: Times Read: 5 Times Forwarded: 3 times, so far Read Duration: 7 min, 12 sec overall, so far Recipient IP: 212.45.23.213 Recipient Browser: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.0; .NET CLR 1.0.3705) Recipient Language: en-us, it Recipient Location: US, NY, New York, "Wallmart" Send this lady an email via the free account. My guess is she's in either West Africa (Nigeria) or London, UK, not Kenya. See how many times it gets forwarded (you get a new receipt each time it's forwarded).

i don't know how to say this without seeming harsh in any way. those Africans are very talented. They will sit at a computer and be just about any person your can think about in this world. i once had this african talking to me online. i was never interested in him. He portrayed himself as a US citizen who worked for an airline as a pilot. Long story short he was from africa black as ever. Be very carefull with these people. Your immigration system has put measures in place to help you as a citizen. Its not about keeping everyone from visiting the US the personmust qualify.
