UK passport traveling to USA?

Rules on traveling from the USA to Canada and then back to the USA. As a UK Citizen on a UK passport?

  • I am A UK passport holder and traveled to the United States of America a short while ago, my three month visa for staying in the USA from the UK runs out in October, But I plan to travel to Canada the day before my visa expires. I plan to stay in Canada for two weeks and then return to the USA. What I need to know is.... Upon leaving the USA will I need a Canadian Visa? How Long will I have to remain in Canada before I can return to the USA? Will I receive a further three month American Visa automatically arriving back from Canada, without having to return to the UK? Thank You

    That plan will not work. Going to Canada for a few days, weeks or months will not get you another 90 days when you attempt to return to the USA. If you try your plan you'll find yourself stuck in Canada.

If you hold a UK passport, that is valid, then no you won't need a visa to enter Canada. As to the US visa, I have no idea. If you need to have one and can't get one at the border then you may find yourself stuck in Canada (not a bad place to be stuck if I do say so myself) but I'm not sure what the US visa requirements or procedures are for UK citizens.

As a UK citizen, you do not need a visa to enter the US or Canada. Once you go to Canada after maxing your allowable stay to the US, you cannot re-enter the US gain until you return to your home country and wait typically 6 months. (or any country outside north america) If you need to stay longer, I suggest you get a visa. That way you can stay for 6 months. (and apply for an extension of another 6 months)
