• Can you imagine though? For your best friend to go and learn the national anthem of where you were born only to have him come back with it and try to teach it to you second hand whom cant sing, and has joyful strains anyway, but you know, I could never go back. Although I am born in Suid Afrika, I was a Draft Dodger aged sixteen despite many assurances the law was repealled meaning jail time for my own private little anti apartheid protest of NOT wanting to shoot ANYONE little known blacks I didnt even know when I got to Australia, I have never disowned the citizenship of the land of my Birth, in many ways, I understand the original inhabbitants of Australia, having their Generation stolen from their parents I feel my life has been stolen away, I have been bullied by white Australians as either a Nazi or a Communist I am neither pretty much middle of the road politics but know what? The middle of the road is the easiest place to get hit by folks when dancing to the left or the right of idiots looking for a head on, I am not anti conflict Australia is a peace loving nation where if danger ever threatened the world little known ourself we would answer any call, I just feel put upon I can see such movies as Invictus an the Gods must be crazy and I am already in a Jack Thomposn movie in Australia that rrecently won its second award in America at the GI film festival congrats to the whole team there, and as an accomplished singer I now find I have to sing the anthem for Suid Afrika in seven languages? No problem I already sing in 18 languages from archaic to pretty much anything? I want to go back but dont? Not, if it means jail and you know how, oh they wont jail you of course you can go back, I just dont feel welcome from the continual bullying whites get as an either for it or against it apartheid reactionists I just want to be nuetral, is it too hard? To get hit in the middle of the road, ot face lifes destiny full on and say, although I identify with South Afirca the original inhabbitants the descendants from the earliet settlers and new arrivals and respect its elders its territiories and laws my own emotional hurt and grief is too great too go back, I am fifty this year too old to conscript too many medical problems to work but love music singing and dance, South Afrida has so much to offer the world and would dearly love to hear the Sowetto Gospel Childrens Choir sing Si ya humba and the lion king si ma ma. Can one identify with worthy motives glory and yet not be part of something?
