Minor Passport Application Error?

Passport D.O.B wrong......what happens?

  • A few months ago I had to go down to the London passport office to get a new passport after my last one was stolen. I received my new passport but have only just noticed that my D.O.B is wrong!! It says 07/09/1986 when it should be 04/09/1986 so its 3 days out. I have emailed the UK Identity and Passport Service and am just waiting for a response on how this can be corrected. Just wondered if anyone had experienced this or knows what has to be done? It is clearly an administration error as I certainly know my own date of birth and was meticulous about filling the application forms!

  • Answer:

Not trying to be awkward but I take it your birth certificate, which the passport office would go by for your first passport, is correct and also shows 04/09. Do you know what your previous passport showed for your DOB? If the birth certificate shows 04/09 then the passport office will have to correct it as it is their fault, somewhere along the line.

Don't worry about it until you change your passport again - but if it really bugs you - insist they change it.
