Minor Passport Application Error?

Will my first name/surname make a difference in visa application?

  • This might seem confusing to westerners, but I'm hoping that there's some Asian's out there that might understand this problem. Let's say My full name is Jenny Chan Mei Ling as per passport... Right here, my Christian name is Jenny, Chan is my surname and Mei Ling is my chinese name. My uni application is applied with Jenny Chan Mei Ling and the offer letter states, Miss Jenny, Mei Ling CHAN. But due to some error in my marriage cert, my first name is Jenny Chan, last name is Mei Ling. Now in my bank account, I'm Mrs Mei Ling. Now I'm applying for student visa for UK. Should I follow my uni offer letter Given name: Jenny Surname: Chan Other names: Mei Ling or should I follow my bank details here Given name: Jenny Chan Surname: Mei Ling at the end of the day, it still sums up to Jenny Chan Mei Ling, but I am afraid that the visa application might wanna tally with the uni form or the bank name..

  • Answer:

Fix the bank and marriage certificate to jive with your passport. That is easier to do than having to explain to the embassy in the future for the discrepancies.
