How to get a job in the UN?

How difficult is it to get a job with the UN's NYC office?

  • Do they have analytical/policy type positions? What type of work experience are they looking for? I have reviewed their employment website already, not terribly helpful.

  • Answer:

    You must have govt. connections of some sort. Try working for the state dpt in the US, or if your' not an American then try to get a job with its equivalent in your country. What you also could try doing is picking up and internship position with your congressman or working on a campaign, then mention it.

when i was 19 or so i was hired by the u.n. but refused the job because of the low pay.-- i made a misstake many years ago.--If I were you I'd contact apply for unicef or another un based org thats how u get in the door.--unicef hired me as a page where you basically run errands but eventually you make the contacts who will put you on their staff ..-good luck
