How to join French Foreign Legion?

I want to join the French Foreign Legion but do not know if i qualify?

  • For over a year i've been attempting to join the US military. I failed my Urinalysis test at MEPS for THC and six months later i received an OVI. My chances of getting into the Army and/or Marines are a lost cause and i have been interested in the French Foreign Legion for years now. If anyone could shed some light on my eligibility for the FFL i would appreciate it so much. All i want to do with my life is fight for a cause and it seems my last chance might be the French Foreign Legion. My only question is am i able to join even with my past troubles. Thank you very much in advance for any light you can shed on my situation. God Bless

    Your situation is not good, US military have information and record of your application and why you have been turned down. As you can see from attached links, FFL are strict in their selection and could share information with US army. As I understand it to join FFL you have to apply in France. Generally the Legion will take on a recruit that's physically fit even if not totally 'a good citizen'. However after you're 'in' they pretty much own you and you'd better learn french pretty quick because that's what they speak and you'd better understand it the first time. To enlist in the US Army with your past problem may require getting your local congress critter to put in a word for you. If you're not a total #$%^ up sometimes getting the backing of former teachers, clergy guys, employers and one or two prominent members of your local business community will help. Go for it!
