People to People Student Ambassadors Program?
-
Hey! I got invited to France, Italy , and Greece, with the P2P program. People say its a scam and that everyone gets these letters, but I've asked all my friends, and a ton of people from my schoool, and NOBODY else got one. But I just have a few questions about the program; 1. When you attend the first information meeting, do you have to pay anything? 2. What is the acceptance procedure? What do you have to do to get accepted? 3. How to raise money? 4. Is there other people with you during the interview, and how do they go about giving the interviews? thanks(:.

Answer:
I recently got back from my People to People trip to Australia. I can honestly say that it was THE best experience of my entire life. When I first got the letter, it was totally out of the blue.. You get nominated by someone; maybe a teacher. To this day I still don't know who nominated me, but it honestly don't much matter. From personal experience, I can truthfully tell you that it is 100% not a scam. Now to answer your questions... 1. The first initial information meeting is just a meeting to tell you more about he program and what it is all about. At mine, there was a short film that gives you a little history about the program, how it was started, and things like that. Then some alumni and parents came up and talked a little bit about the their experience with the program and what they thought about it. There is no cost that I can remember, but if I can remember, there may have been a fee to put your name down and hold a spot in one of the delegations. I'm pretty sure that you go home and do that online. 2. To get accepted, you go through the interview process, as I can see you already know. You have to get three recommendation letters from someone not in your family. Ex. a teacher, coach, guidance councilor ect. 3. I personally didn't do anything to raise money ( although I probably should have.. ), there is a lot of things that you can you. When you are accepted into the program and have been to a meeting or two, they hand out a lot of papers with tips and things. There are ones with packing tips, and things about conduct and a few about fundraising. You could do bake sales, car washes, garage sales, or even get your whole delegation group together to do something. 4. There are people with you during the interview. No one really fails the interview process unless you go in there and say you want to go and do drugs or drink or something totally stupid. They ask you random questions from a list they have, and you just give them your best answer. THey are usually no brainer questions like what would you do if your luggage got lost. Or like what would you do in a certain situation. It's a simple pretty quick interview which you shouldn't have any problems with. I hope I helped! The program was great, and honestly I think I made life long friends. We see each other so much still and miss each other like crazy. My friends that I made are like family during the trip, and they were a huge part of why my trip was so great. I hope you go, and ENJOY it!
