Traveling with expired Schengen visa / Temp RP?

Schengen visa traveling through london airport, do I need another visa?

  • I'm a peruvian citizen and have US permanent residence. Do I need another kind of visa to enter London only to the airport and for a few hours? My final destination is a schengen country.

  • Answer:

As far as I am aware Schengen system is for E.U. citizens and countries that are in the process of joining the E.U. on mainland Europe to travel freely between those countries, example:- A Romanian citizen can travel by bus to any mainland E.U. country without a visa, however travel to the U.K. and the Republic of Ireland is not covered under Schengen. As you are a Peruvian citizen resident in the USA the Schengen system does NOT apply to you and you require a visa to visit the U.K. or what ever Schengen country. (if you are briefly in London Airport you will not be granted access to any zone leading to outside the airport but contained within the confines of the transit zone, you will also have all your paperwork checked by British Immigration Authorities. What country is your final destination as far as I am aware US residents need visas to visit any European country in the E.U. or outside of it.

Citizen of certain countries need a "Direct Airside Transit Visa" even if they stay 'airside' and do not pass British immigration. A Schengen visa for a short stay of up to 90 days does not exempt from this visa requirement. However you hold two documents that waive this requirement: • your Peruvian passport; Peru is not among the countries whose citizen need to get an DATV • your US Green Card; lawful permanent residents of the United States are exempt from the DATV recardless of their citizenship http://www.ukvisas.gov.uk/en/doineedvisa/visadatvnationals ..

No, you will be classed as in transit. You must remain inside the terminal building. You don't need to go through customs, you go through the transit area and then through security again and into the departure lounge to wait for your next flight. Your bags will automatically go through and be loaded onto the new plane.
