How to change a passport in Philippine Embassy in Chicago?

How important it is to change the address on the Indian passport, when you are settled abroad?

  • How important it is to change the address on the Indian passport, when you are settled abroad? My Wife and I are Indian Passport Holders settled in the UK currently. My Passport has been updated with the UK address by the Indian Embassy at the time of my passport renewal early this year. However my wife's passport still has an incorrect Indian address. Will this be an issue anywhere?

  • Answer:

Always keep your passport up to date! You are not UK citizens, presumably you have family &/or other ties to your country of citizenship, and things happen. If you had to go to India in a hurry in a family emergency, would it need to be corrected or pose a problem? If you wanted to travel somewhere, would any questions arise? Keep your Indian passports up to date, ensure all info is accurate, renew them in advance of expiration. Be wise, not lazy. You might think you're all settled in, but. . . sh!t happens. And you need to be prepared and able to leave UK on a moments' notice without any hassles over passport info.

Other answers

It is not normally an issue, because as far as I know you don't get room for changes of address on your passport, unless you are renewing it of course. Apart from your initial and subsequent applications for a passport where your current normal residence is put on it, the most important things are your identity.
