Is a job interview in an embassy different?

Has anyone been for an interview at the us embassy in london for a working visa interview?

  • I have been offered a job working on a summer camp in the states for the summer - i have to go the the us embassy in london for a visa interview - just dont know what to expect. has anyone been or knows what the routine is / what to expect / whether they tell you if you have been granted one on the day? thanks Ben

  • Answer:

It takes aaaagggggeeeeesssss - loads of waiting around. You join a queue outside firstly, then through security - then finally in. Make sure you take all the relevant paperwork. Sit around for ages waiting for your number to be called, go get interviewed and fingerprinted and photographed. Wait loads more for another call for your number - then you either get your visa or not. They will tell you then and there. If you get it, they keep your passport to stamp - it will be returned to you in about 5 days by courier. And check how to pay for this - I vaguely recall they took debit cards and cash, but not certain credit cards. Good luck - plan on being there for the best part of a day!!
