Answer:
Once you gave a notice to your former employer you are following the proper rules that a foreign worker is supposed to in order to cease employment. But please remember, the work authorisation you got is ONLY to work for that employer only, it is not transferable to another employer automatically ( u can work for whoever you want in NZ if you are either a NZ citizen OR a permanent resident of NZ). Once you leave the employment, the ex employer is required by law to report to the NZ immigrationn dept that you have left his employment and I am sure the work visa has been cancelled/revoked. You now have 2 options 1) Contact your ex employer in NZ and rejoin they if possible, but then if you are willing to do that and the ex employer also agrees to hire you again, they will have to apply for new work permit for you, as a foreign worker on a work visa who left the job, you cant simply go back and expect to join right away. 2) Look for a new employer in NZ and start the whole process again right from beginning as u did the first time. Since you already have one year work experience in NZ , I am sure you have a better chance of getting work visa approved again (assuming that you followed all the rules and procedures of employment during your stay in NZ the first time). My suggestion is choose the 2nd option, look for a new employer and ask them to sponser you to work in NZ. The main issue here is, you have already left NZ and living in another country. So, in order to re enter NZ and take up work again someone has to sponser you again and start the whole process right from the beginning. Previous work visa wont permit you to just enter and look for a job in NZ.
