Renewing Minor's passport?

Renewing my Passport?

  • I'm a British Citizen trying to renew my passport but I don't understand the application. I have an expired passport, which is a child one, I'm 17 so now I need an Adult passport. The question says; What type of passport are you applying for? Renewal of your Passport - put an x in the right box, Adult or Child. Your First Passpport - put an x in the right box, Adult or Child. What do I do? My first passport? Even though it isn't? or Renewal of an adult passport? When I don't have an adult passport?

  • Answer:

Put an X in the box for renewing an adult passport. The logic is that it's not your first passport, and you're applying for an adult one. More to the point, the British government site linked below says this: "When a child reaches 16 they can apply for a first adult passport if either of the following is true: they never had a child passport they were included on a parent's passport rather than having a child passport of their own. If they have a child passport they can continue to use it until it runs out. The next passport they apply for should be an adult passport renewal."
