Passport renewal question!?
-
Hi, I lost my UK passport a few months back and i'm currently filling in the passport application and LS01 forms in order to replace it, in both forms, it asks for the passport number and and issue date, but i don't know what my passport number and issue date is because they was on the passport i lost! Would it be ok to leave these sections blank? as i don't want to go through the hassle of of filling in the forms again and getting another counter signature from my teacher because i've just moved house 3 hours away from my old college! apologies for the long explanation, i would be thankful for any help on this matter.

Answer:
yes just leave them blank but if you can remember just the month or year of the issue date, it would probably be helpful to the office dealing with the forms. and get the post office to check them over before you send them off as they will tell you if you have made any mistakes.

My hubby had the same prob. Unless you know the number (and lets face it how many of us know our passport numbers) you have to leave it blank. My hubby had to go for a interview before they would give him another passport so dont think it will be plain sailing.

I think there is an answer about this on the 'notes' included with the paperwork. Why don't you use the 'check & send' service at the Post Office, they check all the details for you for a small additional charge. PS Have you reported it to the Police?

Try the UK state department they should have a copy of your original application on file. Also many people keep photocopies of legal documents in a fire proof document safe.(about $40 US),it makes it easier to report theft or loss as you have serial numbers and issue dates. Most record clerks hate searches that are vague as it slows them down. When you get the new one, memorize the number and make copies!!!Learn from your mistake. The school might have a copy in your student folder to document citizenship status.

Call your passport office, explain the situation, and see what they recommend. Here in the U.S. they would probably ask you to verify who you are with a social security number and then provide you with your passport ID #. Not sure what they do in the UK.
