Can my cousin (15 yrs) travel to Africa without her parents?

My Cousin's wife is trapped in Saudi Arabia, What can be done to get her home?

  • My Cousin's wife is a Saudi Arabian Citizen but has lived here for the past 15+ years. They met in Med School and they were planning their wedding ceremony. They had not told her parents about the engagement, and when they brought it up the Mother did not approve. Time went by and the Mother claimed to have come to terms with the situation and asked her to come back to Saudi for a bridal shower, but not long after she got there her Mother took all of her travel document and since then she has kept her as a prisioner in their home. Since weomen can't drive in Saudi and she's basically property of her paernts in the eyes of the Saudi Govt. She can't just go get a new passport with out her Fathers approval and he's not giving it. My Cousin and his Wife had actually already gotten a civil marriage prior to this whole thing and were just using the ceremony as their public celebration of their marriage. So now my Cousin's wife trapped in Saudi Arabia, and has been for over 6 months what can he do to get her home?

He has to travel over there and find her and drive her to the airport and put her on a plane, it is that easy.

You say she's a Saudi citizen. Nothing, absolutely nothing. Saudi women can't travel or leave the home unaccompanied by a male member of their family. Your cousin should reconcile himself with the fact that he's never going to see her again unless her family changes their minds.

Sigh, another example of thinking the whole world is as nice as the home country. She neglected to do her homework before going abroad. That's too bad. She is property. She may have legally lost her US citizenship even. there is a movie about a woman escaping from that part of the world. You cannot just call Yellow Cab and ask to go to the airport and grab the next flight out. Honest opinion? Get LOTS of money together and buy her freedom. It will likely be six figures. She is property and property can be bought and sold.
