Extending visa and malaysian passport in australia?

• hi i'm studying in australia now and for some reason i need to extend my student visa. and my malaysian passport will expire end of 2007. i want to extend both together but i'm in australia and not going back to malaysia. can i extend my passport in australia? for my visa they say i need to do body checkup again which will cost me about $300(plus the visa itself i think is $400, which adds up to $700!!) but someone else told me i don't have to do the body checkup. which one should i believe? and i heard that i can't travel anywhere (go back to malaysia) within 6 months of my passport expiry date. so does that mean i can't go back to malaysia to extend my passport and visa after June so i have to do it now?thanks for the answers as i can't find other answers anywhere else.

  Find the malayasian embassy ,they should be able to renew your PP. go to www.immi.gov.au for visa info.
