Traveling with expired Schengen visa / Temp RP?

Transit visa for UK? Got Schengen visa but expired US Visa?

  • Hi All I am planning to visit India before taking a break in Paris. I will be applying for Schengen visa for that. The British Airways seems much cheaper for a multi-destination flight. The problem is that all BA flights will have a stop at Heathrow and my US Visa has already expired. Do I need a transit visa for that in-spite of having Schengen visa? My wife is traveling with me, do we both need a transit visa or just one is enough as shes' traveling with me? Please let me know guys if you have any info. Thanks

  • Answer:

You and your wife are exempt from the U.K. Direct Airside Transit Visa requirement if you hold a valid airline ticket for travel through the UK as part of a journey from the United States of America to another country or territory, as long as you do not transit (pass through) the UK on a date more than six months after the date on which you last entered the United States of America with a valid visa for that country. If you and your wife do not meet the above requirement you both will need to apply for the Direct Airside Transit Visa since the Schengen type C visa does not exempt from the visa requirement.
