Can you stay in Thailand with 2 passports?

  • I have a Bulgarian and American passport and I'm going to Thailand. The problem is that you can only stay up to 30 days with no visa. What is the best way to stay there as long as possible using both passports? Any ideas?

  • Answer:

You only can enter the country and leave the country using the same passport, doesn't matter how many passports you have. As an American you are visa exempt for 30 days if you arrive by air and 15 days if you arrive at one of it's borders. You must show you have adequate funds of at least 10,000 baht, and onward movement out of Thailand. You could apply for a tourist visa as an American at any Thai Embassy or consulate and get a visa good for 60 days, you can also extend this visa another 30 days while in Thailand at any Thai immigrations office, the cost of this is 1,900 baht. Bulgarian citizens are not visa exempt and must apply for a visa. A tourist visa for a Bulgarian citizen is only good for 30 days. So I recommend you enter with your American passport.
