Where should I endorse a Mexican passport?

Countersignature for renewal of my UK passport?

  • My dentist since I have been going to since I was a child countersigned my form for renewal of my UK passport. He does not hold a UK passport but has been living in the UK for 10 years. I read this on the website: Someone who has known you personally for at least two years should complete and sign and endorse the passport application form and passport photographs. That person should be a British Citizen, Irish, EU or Commonwealth citizen who is a Member of Parliament, Justice of the Peace, Minister of Religion, Bank Officer, Established Civil Servant, or professionally qualified person, e.g. Lawyer, Engineer, Doctor, School Teacher, Police Officer or a person of similar standing who has known you for at least two years. we have known him for more than 2 years, so should that be enough? or does he have to write a letter explain him countersigning my form.

  • Answer:

It will be o.k. if you can be recognised based on the picture in your current passport, however if countersignatory is required you will be most presumably be asked to provide a countersignatory who holds a British or Irish passport. http://www.direct.gov.uk/prod_consum_dg/groups/dg_digitalassets/@dg/@en/documents/digitalasset/dg_184487.pdf .. Someone else needs to countersign applications: • for first passports; • to replace a lost, stolen or damaged passport; • to renew a child’s passport (if the child is aged 11 or under); or • to renew or extend a passport if you cannot be recognised from the photograph in your current passport. Your form will not need to be countersigned and your photographs will not need to be signed unless your appearance has changed considerably since your current passport was issued. The person acting as your countersignatory must: • be a professional person (including those who are retired) or a person of standing in the community (for example, bank or building-society officials, police officers, civil servants, ministers of religion and people with professional qualifications –teachers, accountants, engineers, solicitors and so on); • have known you for at least two years; • live in the UK; ◙ hold a current British or Irish passport; • fill in section 10 of the application form, giving his or her passport number; • give their business address and contact details; and • ‘certify’ one (not both) of your photographs by writing ‘I certify that this is a true likeness of (your full name including title)’ on it and also signing and dating it. ◘○◘○◘ Added: As I have stated: if you can be reognized based on the new passport picture and the old picture in the previous passport it should not be a problem to get your passport without a 'correct countersignature' of a person who does not hold a UK/Irish passport..
