How long does it take for a passport?

  • I am from Chennai, India. I have applied for passport(general not tatkal). I have applied through agent. Tomorrow is my date for the passport interview. I want to know how long will it take to get my passport. Only genuine answers please.. If anyone have got their passport recently will know I think

    hey i m not sure if chennai zone has started the latest format(in this while process is gonna b online). in this case it will take less than a month other wise its 3 months,.. During the whole process police verification is done, u need to bribe the cops(depends from 500-1000) two kinds of police verification will be done 1.from local police station that verifies yours address 2.from vigilance which verifies yours documents.. once police reports are sent bk to passport office it takes about 1 months.. hope it will help
