• I am 15 years old and have gone on a P2P trip before when i was 13 to Australia and got to experience the Great Barrier Reef as well as many other sites. I wouldnt say that this trip was really anything special. However in their nice and fancy letter they claim one of their founders is former u.s. president Dwight Eisenhower. To clear this up Eisenhower was the founder of people to people international: a non profit company. The PEOPLE TO PEOPLE is a for profit company called Ambassador Groups Inc. I also know many believe they have been "selected because of their academic success." this is simply not true. Their names are bought from a mailing list or a national student list, just like colleges do, and will let pretty much any kid go on the trip as long as their parents can fork up the money, unless they are some kind of criminal. However I have been invited again to the summer of 2012 England, Ireland, Scottland, and Wales trip and I am attending. The first experience was not so good, because of the rotten leaders. However you cannot blame there being one bad experience on the entire organization. Hopefully this year will be better. If you cannot afford the trip, that does not mean P2P is a scam in any way. Either send your child or dont. However dont believe their "great track record for safety" as they have had many accidents over the years such as Tyler Hill's death in Japan. Nor did I come back as a different person however it was an amazing eye opening trip. If you, the parents, are able to fork up or raise the money to send your kid, I suggest you do. However do not send a middle schooler overseas as they may be too immature to take care of themselves and to get the full experience out of it.

  its as you say a commercial travel company selling very expensive trips that you could arrange yourself for half the price... but parents are very gullible to the sales tactic used such as your child has been specially selected etc ...
