Is it better to get a 10-year visa to India or become a dual-citizen (OCI)?

• I have a US Passport and my visa for India is expiring. I will need to renew the visa for a trip to India but I was wondering if it would be better to get a 10-year visa or become a dual-citizen (OCI). I was born in India so I am eligible for dual citizenship and the costs to get a visa verses the OCI are approximately the same. I was reading about the OCI and it seems that you get a lot of the benefits normally given to Indian citizen (right to own property in India, right to invest in India, etc.) and you only need to get the OCI once verses getting the visa every 10-years. With all these benefits, I was wondering what the down sides are. I know that it can be very difficult or even impossible to get US security clearance if you have dual-citizenship. You also have limitations getting help from the US Embassy if you get into trouble in India and would be subject to Indian laws, even though you are a US resident. Now I’m not expecting to be much of a trouble-maker when I’m in India so this doesn’t concern me quite as much, but I wanted to know if anyone else had any experiences or know people who have had problems because they have a dual citizenship with India and the US. I have read a bunch of the material each government posted on their sites but I want to know more about the experiences people have had in the real world.
