Why is capitalism bad?

If Capitalism does not work for the majority, why hasn't it been abolished?

  • If the first Great Depression was caused by the few, what does that say about Capitalism? And why have we not abolished Capitalism? What does that say about who REALLY has power in this country? A nation that is supposedly to be for the people, by the people? But is very much against the people even when you work for those in power, you still get the short end of the stick while the top 1% get the cream of the crop by just barking orders. Capitalism IS greed ( greed that will destroy the Earth and its people if we allow it). I believe in self-determination and all these people working and creating products can do that without the top man. Instead of making or buying unneeded luxuries from these corporations (boosting them up), we should be satisfied with our needs. So in essence, all Americans depend on the system so it is hypocritical to say that from a Conservative viewpoint that Democrats depend on government because both depend on government. So much so, that they would rather keep the system of capitalism around by trying to "fix" something that is neither broken nor good for the people. While also buying unneeded products. Now they have Americans so stupid that they can never give up their flat screen televisions. Instead of both parties being sheep, maybe would see to abolishing monopolizing aspects of capitalism by getting rid of it. Money just makes things complicated, especially when it's connected to other countries. Abolish money and just trade your own talent for the talent of another. The free market is not free as it should. A public trade system on a personal level should be implemented, "money" ( which is controlled by something "private") would thereby be nonexistent. For those who say they still enjoy the system of being a cow. We could at least set aside a state for those who want to opt out of capitalism all together. I do not want to hurt people to survive. But when you have laws created up by the 1% who set out lobbyists to wine and dine lawmakers to pass certain legislature. You can't help but notice the injustice in that towards the majority in the United States. Buying from corporations whom also hurt you financially does not make any sense. You can do things on your own, but since now even land is private owned you can't survive without the capitalistic implementation of money. Land should be for all. BTW, this was done on computer but if I had a choice of living freely on free land with other wholly dignified good free people, or having a computer, I would chose the former. It is now necessity in this capitalist society to have a computer. Another reason corporations are just plain monopolistic, evil wards who want to milk you of your resources (your labor) for money (utter useless paper) for luxury products (can do without). Reason why Americans don't "think" of alternatives to capitalism: Apathetic Robots Sheep Dumb Blind They don't critically think (never taught to in school) Drugged Have personal or "financial" problems "What luck for rulers that men don't think." -Adolf “Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.” -MLK

  • Answer:

The first great depression was caused by the Federal Reserve, which is a banking cartel, not government. We have not had capitalism here for 100 years; perhaps you've heard we have a "mixed economy" meaning some of it is capitalist, some of it is so regulated by government it is more like a public utility, some of it outright government or dependent on it, such as aerospace. The mantra now (by the Socialists) is that capitalism has failed. But we haven't had any in generations, so it is really a government-managed economy which has failed. EDIT: Also, capitalism is the only system consistent with the rights of the individual. If you outlaw capitalism you outlaw your own freedoms, what are left of them.

If I am a carpenter and want to trade my labor for some food, but you have only lumber to trade and I don't need lumber, money is an ideal method of exchange. Give me money rather than lumber and I can buy the food I need. I don't need to spend all day looking for someone with food who needs me to fix his doorway. You are entitled to your opinion, but you are really off base when you fail to recognize that money is simply a medium of exchange. Capitalism is what enabled the United States to become the richest country in the world. We exchange our labor for money and then exchange the money for food, shelter and whatever else we need.

I'm not reading all that junk, but I'll respond to your basic question. The fact that capitalism is still around, and that the whole world (except the Obamanauts here in the 'States) is moving back to capitalism, it must work. Therefore the premise of your main question is incorrect

Well you're right we should change to a system like the Soviets have, sharing of wealth, poor health care, long lines in the supermarkets...oh wait there is no Soviet Union anymore, I forgot about that. Seems to me that the majority has done fairly well with capitalism unless you are one of those who covets what the other man has. A bit of jealousy maybe? You have a good day now

Try getting an actual education. Capitalism is still here because it DOES work for the majority of us. Deny it all you want, use lame insults all you want but the facts are the facts and eventually you'll have to face them.

Ok, i think this isn't really a question, but i'll answer it anyway. Capitalism doesn't really exist any more because the government interferes with the economy by regulating trade. Also, it gives the people free reign. In my opinion, the thing that would work the most is to make it so companies don't get to big to fail, people can't fail, but all companies can. This is what would make the Quality of life the best, and it involves some capitalism. Capitalism isn't totally bad, and it's good when it's in moderation.
