Why is New Zealands Crime stance with the current government so extreme, conservative and illiberal?

What hope do Politicians offer the million young people who are unemployed in this Government?

  • Last night I nearly threw my TV out of my window after viewing Newsnight on BBC2 with Paxman and a group of young unemployed people and 2 politicians discussing this serious problem. Millibands Bro took the yoof stance and Grayman oops sorry Grayling did some Bwaty Cameroon Government representation and it sickened me to my core. Both Politicians have no connection with the yoof of today.Their platitudes indicated not just a class gap and a generation gap but a reality gap of immense proportion that cannot be reconciled. Not one answer was given that addressed the problem. The reality is this. Since 2004 unemployment amongst the young people has rose because of the influx of Eastern European labour and the rise of the Agencies which exploit labour and the Employers who use Agency staff to circumvent employment law. Now the young people have to pay increased student fees with no hope of getting the jobs they went to further education and university for. This is ridiculous. How do these politicians expect people to have faith in a system that let's them down? I sincerely hope there is a social revolution in this country and this selfish generation who created this mess are kicked out of their jobs. Perhaps democracy is changing and we need a new plan to rejuvenate this country. Roosevelt knew the only way out of a recession is to create growth from with and to spend money on that creation. We could be building homes for the homeless and ...YES.. even super prisons to tackle the culture of crime. But what doe Cameron do.He blames the previous Government or the Euro crises and then wishes to remove employment rights that Europe has given us and cut services and the population rigid with fear agree. In my day we had people who stood up like Derek Hatton and even Scargill. The young are being let down but I tell you the time will come when the worm will turn and this country will go up like a rocket.

  • Answer:

It isn't up to the politicians to fix things. It is up to the people. And if they don't have a solution why do they insist that the least of us come up with a fix? The slag floats to the top and it is the politicians that are our weakest link with recovery. When the people get it together and act with community and common goodness toward a sustainable cultural way of life we will be able to relegate those who are elected to serve to service instead of to control of our lives. If we are not in control of our lives as a culture, as a people united toward a common good we are not worth advancing toward that end and will have to submit to the dictates of those who were elected to serve. Now they imagine they are the government and they are so long as we refuse to govern ourselves. It was intended to be a government of the people not a government of the select few. The young are duped by an education system that is fostered and controlled by a select few. They are raised to be subservient to those select few so they no longer have the vision or the tenacity to thrive from their own efforts and insights. Thank God there are enough young people who see this and are willing to cut their own path through the sham of government dependency. While they are still few there are ever more of them each decade. When our education system was founded it was created with the intent not do create masters but to create docile citizens who could be kept at bay and lead by the nose. More and more people are shunning Public Education for alternative ways to expand the mind and heart and spirit.

What hope should they offer?

Th only hope young people have and indeed older people who have lost their jobs is that ultimately we will come out of the slump/recession. I am beginning to think however that the less politicians try to tinker with the economy the quicker we will be out of the situation. One thing we must bear in mind and that is the hard fact that it is not written in stone that the west will always have the high standard of living it has now i know people do not want to hear that especially now but it is very true

Unemployment is high among American youth because they think they are entitled to things. They go through four years of college with mommy and daddy footing the bill. They have never worked a day in their life and think they're worth $50,000 or more simply because they have a degree. EXPERIENCE is more valuable than a piece of paper from your party years confirming that you did, indeed, make it through without flunking out. Most successful people started out in menial jobs, worked darn hard, and advanced AFTER they proved themselves. Get over yourselves, get a "menial" job to prove that you have some sort of work ethics, and you will succeed. I heard that 2/3 of young applicants actually ask about social media policies DURING THE INTERVIEW! I would never hire someone who asked how much play time they were allowed on my dime - most people won't. .

Wow! you really know your stuff. Your question reminds me of US president JFK - Do not ask what your country can do for you but what can you do for your country. You are probably a lot younger that these guys which means you have a greater stake in the future than these guys. Its your country - go claim it!

As a younger American college student myself, the message I get from the Obama administration is their desire to rape my generation to pay for others. Some younger people bought into Obama's BS initially. It was hard not to as It was all colorful rhetoric that was scripted better than a Hollywood movie. Most have figured out his empty rhetoric and lies bring nothing but problems. The tenured professors still worship him for obvious reasons, but the days of him being able to count on student support are behind him.

Career politicians will always look for short term vote-winning strategies, as opposed to long term visionary strategies. If you argue on behalf of Labour, the Conservatives or the Liberal Democrats, then you need to your head testing. All three parties are built upon career politicians who are only looking to benefit themselves; as a result, our democracy has been turned into a childish game of politics. Personally, I believe the Conservative government will do the following: - Create inflation: Hidden tax on the people -- already happened in the form of Quantitative Easing. Inflation will also erode the real value of government debt. - Banks recapitalised in preparation for a recession, or extremely slow growth -- again, this has been done using Quantitative Easing - When recession hits, consumer spending drops. - Around 70% UK economy built on service sector. - Mass job loss: mass unemployment in private sector, plus cuts in public sector. - Now time for investment in infrastructure. - Plans for infrastructure projects will currently be being processed – By the time they get through the red tape, the mass unemployment will be ready at a cheap wage to be employed in construction projects. - At the same time, cheap labour in private sector + devalued currency = cheap manufacturing industry jobs. Thus, our government will look for foreign manufacturing investment. - Exports become cheaper, again due to our devalued currency.

The people need to take back their government, and the only way to do that is campaign against the incumbents. Urge others to complain to their representatives about the need for social change. The pain is mightier than the sword. Write letters to newspapers before elections urging the policy of voting to be, if they are in, vote them out. That is the only way to shake up the government. The longer they are in office the bigger the chances they are corrupt or self seeking. The young generation needs to realize that the world will not be handed to them. They need to start at the bottom and work their way up, to do their best in everything they do to climb the latter of success. It won't happen overnight. Jobs are stepping stones. It is always better to work than not to work even if it is not the field you're interested in. If the person wants to work as a medical technician but there are no jobs, try to get a job in the kitchen, or materials management, or janitorial staff of a hospital. That is a foot in the door, that they can use as a stepping stone to the job they want. If youth refuse to start at the bottom, then they will be unemployed or underemployed for a very long time.

Sad to day, we should accept the fact that the Hi Tech era has brought about all these new fangled , machines and ideas that elliminates the need for man to do the work which they used to do. Robots are used today in every facet of manufacturing. Computers elliminated the need for man to to get into the very core of science out there in space. Perhaps it is time to follow the late John Kennedy when he exhorted..Ask not what your country can do for you, but ask what you can do for your country".Help your fellowmen,..help the needy, and spread GOODWILL everywhere you go !
