Looking to join civil activist organization?

I am a second year political science major living in New York. I have become very concerned with the amount of erosion i see in the middle class and would like to join an activist organization dedicated to fighting this erosion. I'm talking about an organization that goes on marches, does letter writing campaigns, lobbies congress to pass or not pass certain laws etc... I need the name of such an organization that i can join.
