What's the difference between a province and a district?

Why do Americans Know NOTHING About Canada?

  • Whats with the ignorance? Whenever I am in heated discussion with both brats on Xbox Live, and older Americans on various chatrooms and forums, their comments and arrogance just drip with ignorance. Whenever these people find out I am Canadian, they all say the SAME things: America Jr, bagged milk, beavers, EH?, we'll BOMB you, Celene Dion, etc etc etc. Yes, they all sound the same. They especially like making fun of "eh?" (which personally I've never heard in serious, non-joking conversation). I've also never seen a live beaver, nor seen bagged milk. And guess what? We're not a frozen wasteland. Only the most northern part is - like your Alaska. Our summers are as worm as yours, and our winters are just as cold. Drop an ignorant american into the middle of Toronto on a summer day and he wouldn't know the difference between that and any other american metropolis. They also love to act like the alpha-male and puff their chests. Whenever they're mad at me they remind me that they could "bomb anywhere they want". "We'll nuke your puny country", they say. Why do they think they're the center of Earth? Don't they realize the rest of the world could care less about the USA? My father travels to the USA often for business, just as many of his business partners from the states have come up here. I've met them and they're fine people...but why does it seem like over half, at least 51% of americans, just ooze the most annoying confidence and ego? Don't americans have to learn about Canada in school? I sure as hell had to learn about the USA! I can name many american states, for some reason. But I have NEVER, literally NEVER met an american who can name a single province.

  • Answer:

That, my friend, is called trolling. The intended purpose of those comments is to make you angry (and it seems to be working). The bagged milk one is great for that. (Also, bagged milk does exist in Canada, it's just not as common now as it used to be.)

Sorry, but I stopped reading at "heated discussion with both brats on Xbox Live". If you are basing your views of America with some kids playing Gears of War, then you, my friend, need to find another source.

If you are chitty chatting on XBox Live, then most likely you are talking to 12 year olds.....what is bagged milk? How intelligent of a conversation can you have with someone while you're sniping them on Call of Duty 4?

Quebec, Ontario, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Yukon, Newfoundland, How's that for a few provinces?

Beware the company you keep in Xbox Live, chat rooms and forums. This answers your question succinctly. Please do not judge all Americans by this admittedly biased sample.

Yes. Yes we are the center of the universe. See you have the Americans that have never been out of their county much less their state. But they know all about the world and how it works. Then you've got the adventurous teenager/college student. Just spent a week in Cancun. With days filled with much drink and chest beating and nights filled with more drink and much debauchery. Lastly, you have those that have actually traveled and lived in other countries. That have seen the ignorant American at work. Take for instance military personnel tossing coins into **** river. Just to watch the locals dive down and emerge with the coins. Never mind that it is the sewage system for the city. But what are you gonna do? We are the center of God Almighty's Universe. Learn it, Live it. Have a nice day.

Well how about Ontario or Sasketchewan? I have been to Toronto and Montreal; both in my youth, and stayed in this hemisphere all my life to date. Down here in Kentucky we don't get any Canadian news and ever since Evan Coryaier(sp) and the Montreal Canadians won the Stanley Cup; I haven't really followed hockey. So how much do you really know about my state other than we make fried chicken and play great basketball and have a horse race. Unless you travel or have regular new broadcasts then there will never be much exchange of information. Rather than tossing your wolf cookies all over Y/A why not start asking Canadian question in the All USA questions sections and spark some interest? I know more about the sheik of Dubai than I do of your country because he comes to Keeneland Race Course every race meet and throws a few million around; but progress not perfection is our goal here; right?

British Columbia , Alberta ,Saskatchewan, Ontario , Quebec .... Americans don't get this education in school for some reason . So most Americans are ignorant about Canada . Yes, Canada is a beautiful country . Yes, Americans are full of themselves . Get over it . It's not all Americans ... just most of us .
