How come there isn't free health care in U.S?

How come so many Americans are opposed to a new Health Care Plan?

  • If Americans are unhappy with paying thousands of dollars for health insurance. They why are they not wanting to change to a tax pay version of health care. It works for us here in Canada? I am curious to know what are the issues people have with Obama;s health care plans?

  • Answer:

Because they are totally uninformed and are getting brainwashed by a very lucrative Insurance Industry. It not only works well in Canada, it works well in other developed countries also. I am a Medical Translator and know first hand how other systems work. Who ever heard of preventive Medicine here or being send away by the Insurance Carrier for weeks after an Illness or Surgery to recover fully ? And the Facilities for recovery are like luxurious Hotels.

LOL! That's why we have a flood of Canadians coming over the border every year to get the medical care they need.

Because our government screws up everything it involves itself with. We don't want them running our health care.

Tired Trucker

Because the health care Americans have now is the world's best, so why change it and take it away

Umm, have you actually bothered to read any of the proposals in the plan before you asked this question??

Unfortunately, the Democrats’ health care plan – crafted largely behind closed doors – isn’t the right thing. It’s a prescription for disaster – one that will put Washington bureaucrats in charge of your family's personal medical decisions. Medical decisions that are some of the most personal decisions you’ll ever make. As a mother, I want to make those decisions for my son with a doctor we choose. Anything else is unacceptable. Also unacceptable is how much this will cost you and your family. According to the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office, the Democrats’ proposal will drive health care costs higher than ever. The agency also warns that millions will be forced off their current coverage under the Democrats’ plan, even though they continue making the discredited claim that if you like your plan, you can keep it. Millions of seniors will lose their health care choices too, because the Democrats’ plan cuts Medicare, making it more difficult in rural areas across the country – like mine in eastern Washington – for seniors to obtain the coverage they need. The House Democrats’ plan also will add $239 billion to our deficit – $239 billion more tacked onto the tab we’re passing along to our children and grandchildren. Families, seniors, and future generations will not be alone in struggling with this bill’s costs. America’s small businesses will pay a steep price as well. Because the Democrats’ plan is bankrolled by a small business tax, more jobs will evaporate. We’ve lost more than three million jobs since the beginning of the year and Americans have every right to ask, “Where are the jobs?” According to the National Federation of Independent Business, the Democrats’ plan will destroy a million more small business jobs. And according to a methodology developed by the President’s own senior economic advisor, the Democrats’ government takeover of health care will cost at least 4.7 million jobs over the next 10 years. Because of these extraordinary costs to families, small businesses, and future generations, alarm bells are sounding across the country. One Democratic governor recently expressed concern with the bill’s cost—at a trillion dollars or more. Another called it ‘the mother of all unfunded mandates.

Mine works just fine. I have used private insurance numerous times, and have always found satisfaction. I am willing to pay our doctors and medical experts a little more for the top-of-the-line treatment we get here in the states. I pay about $250/mo for a family of 4. It is just a little bit more than car insurance.

I am also confused. Everyone knows that Medicare is almost broke, that insurance companies are ripping us off, that all citizens need proper access to health care yet they say do not touch it . I have yet to hear one solid counter proposal. Tort reform? I do not want any government to limit my right to sue any hospital or doctor or to limit my compensation. Let the judge decide

I am against it because it is not the responsibility of the Federal Gov't to provide health care for the masses. Others are against it because they have read the bill or heard from others about the different portions of the bill such as rationing, limiting availability and the cost.

Because it is unconstitutional and it really has nothing to do with health care and has everything to do with governmental control of your life and death.
