Why does Canada and America have bad education?

Can we stop saying America is #1?

  • I'm copying my old question's details and pasting them here. Also I have added details replying to some answers since some of what i said in my replies should of also been in details in the first place. Ok then I should start out by saying I love America, but things need to change to make us even better. we're not #1 in education.hell we're not in the top 25. we're not #1 in health care. we are ranked 45th in life expectancy. Not every state allows gay marriage. Only a few actually do. So could we now quit saying we're the greatest and actually start trying to have progress? Also if you disagree with me then please tell me how we're the greatest. That's false about showing our dissent. Canada seems to get the if not more free speech rights. I can ask the same thing. Have you ever lived any where else? Okay I know we are probably the reason why our allies won WW2, but yet a statement like that doesn't actually mean we are the best because of that. We would of most likely lost to the british in the Revolutionary war if we didn't get help from France. Also the statement about getting back to our conservative roots and getting back to God in our lives really ticks me off. It's not even the conservative part that mostly gets me. I'm talking about the God part. I am technically a Catholic, but I don't believe in everything they say. I still believe in God and Jesus, but that's it and if anything we need less religion. what happened to seperation of church and state? You guys say keep government off my Jesus. I say keep Jesus off my government. Now then I do respect the conservatives views, but about education... Why should the child not get a good quality education all because of where he lives or who his parents are? I forgot to mention to you guys though that America isn't in the top 10 happiest places to live. The #1 country was Denmark. Also how about our crime rate? Also for those that will say we have the best technology for health care and you have to sacrifice for the best treatments. Okay I guess I see some reasoning there, but what about the 50 million Americans that don't have health care? 8 to 9 million of them are children. You can say all you want about being this great Capitalist nation and that includes health care, but what is a 5 year old going to do? He can't go get a job at a factory for health insurance. If not cover the 50 million then cover the 8 to 9 million kids. Also again I do love America, but we shouldn't be so ignorant to say that. I don't think any country should do this. i just find it obnoxious to be like that. plus a lot of countries aren't liking us at the moment.

  • Answer:

Why do we have to be so pompous as to telling the World that we are number one ? Nr. 1 in what ? Having messed up the Economy around the World ? What is so wrong with being humble. I love this country but not the attitude of some of us. We can get into trouble without inviting it. Remember, for a long time we were called the ugly Americans. Let us not restore such a Title. I have traveled the World extensively and never found anyone being nasty to me. Could it be that I was nice and not arrogant ?

Answer the Question!

Somebody who dares to speak his mind. I agree: this "patriotism' blinds us too much. We are not living "in the best of all possible worlds" as a guy named Panglos used to say in Voltaire's "Candide". But then, how many ever heard of Panglos, Candide and Voltaire in USA? Most Americans seem to "love" their ignorance.

Not perfect just number one (#1)

Eric

of course we're not #1 now because everything is in the pits!

Lorenzo von Matterhorn

America is #1 If I were to take your numbers then I would be a fool. Your numbers are all wrong. Besides I don't hear of people running to France or Denmark to live their dreams. It's only here in the US of A.

Canada isn't as peachy as you might think. I love our health care, but it can be slow at times. And we have laws against "hate speech" and things covered under your 1st Amendment. Not to mention guns are heavily regulated and there's no such thing as a "concealed carry" permit, even as a Police Officer (off-duty, of course.) As Homer Simpson said, "America's health care system is second only to Japan, Canada, Sweden, Great Britain, well, all of Europe, but you can thank your lucky stars we don't live in Paraguay!"

Dustin

The who is? BTW we are the best in health care because people from all over the world come here to get it... to me that means we have a better product (care)
