Can a US non-resident citizen vote in the election?
-
I am a US citizen. I was raised in Hebron, Maine. I registered and voted there once. I have since then married a Canadian and am now living in New Brunswick, Canada. I would like to vote in the election, but am not totally sure if I can. If I can, I'm not sure how to go about it. I attempted filling out an absentee ballot, but it asked my address of the municipality I was voting in. Of course, I don't have one. Do I use the one that I previously registered under (which is my parents address)? I also live only an hour and a half from the border to Calais, Maine. Is it possible to go there to vote, as opposed to having to vote through the mail? Or would it be easier to plan a 6 hour trip back to Hebron? I'm hoping to hear from someone who has gone through this before, or has first hand information. Thank you. :)

Tell them your parents address and have them send the absentee ballot to your current address where you are on a long term visit. You may not vote in Calais. I lived in Germany for a while and this is what I had to do. You better do it soon because if you do not then your ballot will not get there in time.

If you are a us citizen and registered voter, you can vote absentee Contact the voter registration office where you are registered for information.

I think the question should be should you vote. Since you no longer live in the United States, I don't think you should vote. If you are teporarily out of the Country that is different.
