Who makes Travis Pastrana's yellow watch?

Did you hear about the HUGE fire incident that happened today 7/26/2011 in Fairfield, CA?

  • My mother and father called me on the phone 70 minutes ago from Hayward, CA and told me and my family not to fly down from Ireland where we live at and visit for a while until the fire is completely put out safe because it might reach all the way to Hayward from Fairfield where it happened at. Apparently what my parents told me was that the fire started today in a storage area at The Marcos Plastic Incorporated complex which is an Industrial area near Travis Airforce Base in Fairfield, CA. If I can remember correctly what my parents told me, I think it happened at around 1:00 PM today sending thick heavy black smoke hundreds of feet into the air spreading all over Fairfield, Suisun City, and Solano County too. It was reported on the news today that A Fire Department dispacther said that all the businesses adjecents at the fire scene were evacuated and taken safely away from the fire and that all the residents and people of Fairfield, Suisun City, and Solano County for their safety were asked to stay indoors at home today until further notice to avoid exposure and death injuries from the smoke in the sky. A thick plum of black smoke also rose from the site and was visible for miles drifting eastward to the south of Sacramento, CA. The Fire department told KCRA-TV in Sacramento that at least 8 fire vehicles and 30 firefighters were at the scene and blaze, which was confined to an open air storage area and nearby grassy area. No structures were threatened and the fire was finally under control by 4:00 PM today: city fire marshal Morgana Yahnke told KCRA. The Travis Airforce Base sent 13 firefighters and 4 vehicles to assist at the request of Fairfield, said a city spokeswoman, Technical Sgt.Renni Thorton. Calls to the city fire marshal and to the company, which has its corporate headquarters in Fairfield were not immediately returned. The company makes plastic bins used in harvesting grapes and other agricultural products. The Fairfield fire told KCRA the perforated plastic bins were burning, producing the thick black hydrocarbon smoke and a very hot swirling fire to occur and happen. The Marcos Plastic website said the containers are made for injection-molded polyethylene and polypropylene. The company introduced the products in the 1980's as a replacement for wooden crates used by grape and stone-fruit farmers. The Solano County Heath Department and specialists from the Bay Area Air Quality Management District were all monitoring the smoke, said district spokeswoman Kristine Roselius. "It's smoke, and it's always a good idea to avoid smoke, Roselius said, but the district had no information about unusual toxic chemicals in the clouds. District inspectors took air samples to be tested" she said. Hazardous materials officers from Travis Airforce Base were also evaluating any possible threat, Yahnke told KCRA! The wind was dispersing the smoke quickly as it moved eastward, but Travis officials advised base personals to avoid unnecessery outdoors activities for their safety, Thorton said. They also rerouted some traffic leaving the base to avoid the area near the deathly fire and heavy black thick smoke too. Base operations weren't otherwise affected! So with the huge fire and explosion that happened in Fairfield, CA today and with all the thick heavy black smoke high up in the sky spreading all over Fairfield, Suisun City, Solano County, and miles and miles all over the Bay Area right now, it's really currently unknown at the moment right now how long the people will have to stay indoors at home to be safe and kept alive and when it'll be competelly safe again for Solano County residents and people to go outdoors again because of the huge thick heavy black smoke that's spreading in the sky all over the Fairfield area and towards Sacaramento right now. But with the way it's being taken care and handled gracefully, it shouldn't be no longer than a week or 2 weeks before the fire is completely put out and then it should be perfectly fine for people to go outside and do whatever it is that they need to do again. But right now my parents told me and my family not fly down from Ireland to visit them yet until it's safe again so I'm going to stay here at home in Ireland with family until I hear it's safe again because of how big the smoke and fire is, it could reach all the way to Hayward, CA where my parents live at you know. So this is AN IMPORTANT warning to all of you Yahoo Answers people and residents who live in Fairfield, CA and the in Solano County district to stay at home indoors and avoid getting breathing in the smoke and getting killed until further notice is announced. Ypu can read about the Fairfield CA fire 7/26/2011 on the Internet and watch Youtube videos of it as well. If any of you live in Fairfield, Suisun City, or in the Solano County then please stay at home indoors until it's safe again! Take care and stay safe, The

  • Answer:

Well, there are several million people who live and work in the Bay Area and who aren't putting their lives on hold for a week or two on account of this fire. Yes, it did produce a spectacular column of black smoke (petroleum products have a way of doing that when they burn) but no worse than the wildland fires we had here a couple of years back that left the Bay Area choking in wood smoke for a couple of weeks. THAT truly was miserable, and still it didn't keep folks indoors much. Yes, breathing smoke from any source is not a good idea, but the amount of chemicals released into the air by this one fire is insignificant compared to the countless tons of pollutants that are spewed into the air each and every day by vehicles and factories and aerosol products in the Bay Area, not to mention the world over. Don't scuttle your travel plans over this.
