Is Weston super mare pier open?

The tide at Weston-Super-Mare went out one day and never came back- Why did they have a pier anyway?

  • Answer:

Piers are a legacy of a bygone age and reflect the magnificant engineering feats of the day it would be sad if it was lost. I am sure that it would have a devistating effect on the tourist trade for the people of Weston. Surely the people who own it having bought it in Feb and the local authority would have it insured so why can't it be replaced as soon as Fire investigation is complete.Reading your Q over and over I wonder if you are a young person ignorant of our great structures or just a miserable old person unappreciative of the few great British made "wonders" whichever some of us do appreciate the hard work of our forefathers. From the other side of "the Severn bridge" I wish the people of Weston good luck and hope they get a new pier..

First sad loss about the grand pier lets hope it can be re-built, a.s.a.p. The sea does always seem to be out in the day, "but it does come in you know" some years ago they had storm damage from the sea along parts of WSM and the marine lake area was rebuilt. As for people saying its a 1950's style resort this is typical of a lot of UK resorts.

Weston super Mud is it's more common known name. It is like a 1950's seaside resort.

NOOO!!!

We've been inhaling smoke from 20 miles away today. It was sad to see it burn.
