What do I do to find a old article from a newspaper?

Can someone help me find this newspaper article?

  • Here's the info I have about the article. It was posted in from 1950-1953. I'm not sure which year, month or day. It was a Boston newspaper. I'm not sure which. It was on the front page. It was about smokers boxing. It was a Greek man I believe and another man named Milton Courtemanche. The title of the article was "Making a Canvas" the photo was both of the boxers laying flat out in the ring. I really need to find this article. You have no idea what joy this article would bring to an old dear friend of mine. Please help me.

I did a google search and did not find it as I am sure you did also. So, now, do you know anyone in Boston? If yes send them to the library to look at old newspapers that are on file. You may have to use a micro film reader, the librarian will show you how. You or your friend will be able to skip all of the inside pages so it should go pretty fast. If Boston had more than one paper you or your friend will probably have to look through many papers to find the article. Then you make a copy of the paper for the old dear friend of yours. You or your friend will have a problem as you are looking down the pages. You will find something that is not what you are looking for but it will be interesting and you will stop to read it. That will add more time to your search. If you do not live in the Boston area, and I am guessing you do not, and if you do not have a friend willing to spend several days in the library you could hire a genealogist from the area to go look for the article. Look in the Arts & Humanities and click on Genealogy. Post your question and maybe link to my answer. You might be able to post my answer in your extra info with your question and ask if anyone in the Boston Area would be willing to help. I have no idea what it cost to hire a genealogist but when you contact them you will have to ask. Hope this will help you. I had another idea last night. How about contacting a local High School. Write a letter to a history teacher. Ask if they have an honor student that would like to earn some extra $ as the student might work for less of your $. Another source would be a church or a civic organization that you might contact. Or maybe a senior center. I know I would enjoy doing this for you but I live several thousands miles West. Map
